Should I Rescreen or Replace My Sliding Screen Door?

If the frame is straight, rescreening is usually enough. A bent or corroded frame is the real reason to replace.

Rescreen when the frame is sound

Pet scratches, small tears and sagging mesh can all be fixed by putting in new mesh and spline. If the frame is straight, the corners are tight and the door rolls well with new wheels, rescreening is the simpler fix.

Replace when the frame is the problem

A frame that is bent, corroded near the coast or has broken corners won't hold new mesh tight or stay on the track. In that case a new screen frame sized to your opening is usually the better choice.

  • •Measure nothing yourself — we size the frame on site
  • •Mention pets so we can talk about mesh options
  • •Tell us if the door also comes off the track
