How Are the Right Replacement Sliding Door Rollers Identified?
Look-alike wheels can use different housings and mounts. Identify the door first—do not remove a glass panel just to photograph its parts.
Need it fixed instead? See our sliding door roller replacement service, or use our free estimate form. Standard repairs run $99–$375 per panel; impact doors need a free onsite estimate.
The wheel is only part of the assembly
Sliding door rollers sit within an assembly that attaches to the operating panel. Wheel size, housing shape, mounting points, adjustment mechanism and intended panel load all matter. Two assemblies with similar-looking wheels can fit and adjust differently. A part that seems to fit is not automatically suitable for a heavy panel.
Start with a readable product label, series information and any existing documentation. A glass marking may identify the glass specification without identifying the complete door. Andersen's identification worksheet shows how product information guides parts selection for its systems.
Do not remove a panel to identify its wheels
The rollers may be concealed below the panel. Inspecting them can require removal and controlled handling of heavy glass. That is not a safe homeowner step just to get a close-up photo, especially for impact-rated panels. Share accessible labels and a photo of the whole opening instead.
During an onsite inspection, we assess the installed assemblies and the rail, then check compatible replacement options. Discontinued or specialized systems may need additional sourcing; we do not promise a universal roller or a stocked part before identification.
Check the surface the replacement will run on
A worn or dented rail can leave new rollers running poorly. Andersen's roller identification guidance also distinguishes roller wear from track-cap condition. Your manufacturer's current instructions take priority for your particular model.

What it costs: $99–$375 per panel for standard repairs
On a standard residential sliding glass door, our repairs run $99–$375 per panel depending on the parts and labor involved. The estimate is free and you get the price before any work starts.
Impact doors need an on-site estimate
Impact-rated (hurricane) sliding doors are a different job. The panels are much heavier because of the laminated glass, the rollers and tracks are often brand-specific, and the frames are built to strict Florida code. Two impact doors that look the same can need very different parts and labor.
That's why we don't quote impact doors over the phone. We come out, look at the door, check the brand, the panel weight, the track and the rollers, and then give you an exact price. The on-site estimate is free.
